To understand how to read tablature, just enough to know the numbers and remember some characters. However, there are many drawbacks, the most important of which – the absence of the length of the notes. Of course, in their different length numbers will be a different distance, this will give a rough idea of the duration, but a clear picture will not form. Then how to read tablature correctly? The answer is simple – to listen to this song before it or to hand the note or rhythm pattern of the song.
STRING LOCATION
The tablature portrayed six guitar strings, numbers, corresponding fret numbers, and various symbols indicating different playing techniques. In the left corner, you will see about six letters. This Latin assignment of notes may not always indicate in some programs that read tablature, such as Guitar Pro. The image below provides a standard tablature for guitar tunings. The strings are designed from up to down with different drawing ideas. The top is the thinnest and high-sounding string (note E, or E) from the bottom – the thick and low, sixth (E too, but lower in two octaves). Next, the second string – Note B, or B; third – the note G, or G; Fourth – D, or D; and fifth – A.
MAIN TITLE
Now about the notation themselves. Do the math, here everything is clear – they correspond to the number of frets. The number 0 – a string in the open position when there is no way not clamped. Figure 1 – the first twist, 2 – the second, and so on. When the numbers in the tablature are together on the same vertical line, it means that they all need to be drained at the same time. But sometimes, it can meet other characters: various crosses, arrows, and others. They appear when using a variety of game techniques. Cross, instead of numbers, is a muffled sound that is not clamped completely – the only guitarist.
As for the strings in the right place, there appears another drawback tablature: a cross itself does not indicate any way, and in which to take it, it is important to guess, decided by the rest of the signs on the tablature. Arc arrow means tightening string or band. To remove the need to press the string band and pull it up or down the left arm. Digital arrows indicate when the interval in which to pull the band. If there is a, you need to pull the string through a semitone or a fret. The word “full” means to lift a tone or two frets.
The following symbol – Glissando, in other words, sliding. Normally, it seems like this: (\), or this: (/). As it is possible to guess, this denotes sliding from one fret to another, with the strings constantly playing. Glissando can occur in the form of –7 \ 2–, which means you need to reach the string on the seventh fret and move down to the second, not drowning in the string. In the tablature, another symbol – legato-is usually recorded by the letters p and h, which means descending and ascending legato, respectively. It looks like –3h5–. To extract it, you need to hit the string on the third fret and put the left hand’s thumb on the fifth fret, not muted on the string.
BASS TABLATURE
The same principle is developed and bass tablature, but they are not the main two strings. It can be added to the string down, depending on their numbers on this instrument. As well as these elements are used only when playing the bass guitar. For example, blow-blind, denoted by the letter S. Blind-a unique technique in which the musician has his thumb on the string to hit the neck. Blinds are found mainly on bass tablature and very rarely on simple guitars, with the methods of playing blinds on a conventional guitar being radically different.
