The level of pressure in classroom settings often catches students off-guard. Overloading with knowledge or being given contradictory orders are common stressors for children and even adults.

Over the course of a school year, many students often find themselves dreading going to school.

Is the prospect of a full day of classes setting off alarm bells for you? Are you looking for ways to lift the classroom pressure you face?

Check out our guide when you’re ready to learn some division tricks to help you land on top of the classroom.

You’ll learn shortcuts and easy math tips to speed through tasks that would normally waste your precious time.

1. Dividing Decimals

When you are dividing decimals in school, here are the best math techniques that can help you. Move the decimal point to the right in both the dividend and the divisor. Then, divide as usual and move the decimal point to the right in the quotient.

2. Dividing Fractions

When it comes to dividing fractions, you can always convert the fraction to an equivalent fraction with a denominator that is a power of 10.

Another trick is to divide both the numerator and denominator by the same number.

3. Dividing by Powers of Two

If you’re having trouble dividing by powers of two, there are math tricks that can help. One is to think of it as a division by repeated halving. Another trick is to use estimation.

So, if you’re dividing by 8, you can think of it as 10 divided by 8 (which is 1.25).

4. Dividing by Powers of Ten

One of the most useful division tricks you can use is to divide by powers of ten. This can be done by simply moving the decimal point to the left or right.

For example, to divide by 10, you would move the decimal point one place to the left.

So, if you were to divide 34 by 10, you would get 3.4. To divide by 100, you would move the decimal point two places to the left, so 34 would become 0.34.

You can use this trick for any power of ten, just by moving the decimal point, the appropriate number of places, to the left or right.

5. Dividing by Powers of Five

Having trouble dividing by powers of five?

First, you can try breaking the number down into smaller chunks. For example, if you’re trying to divide by 25, you can break it down into 5 and 20.

Once you have the smaller numbers, you can divide them separately and then add the results together.

6. Dividing Odd Numbers

One division trick to help you in school is to always look for the number of zeroes in the divisor. If the number of zeroes is odd, then the result will be odd. Otherwise, the result will be even.

So, when dividing odd numbers, look for the number of zeroes in the divisor to help determine if the result will be odd or even.

7. Dividing Large Numbers

One of the best ways to help you master the long division trick is to break the number down into smaller chunks.

For example, if you’re trying to divide 500 by 25, you can break it down into 5 groups of 100, and then divide each group by 25.

This makes the problem much easier to solve in your head.

Master These Division Tricks

If you master these division tricks, you’ll be on top of your division game in no time! Just remember to keep practicing and soon you’ll be a division champion!
